Regulations
The race will apply the regulations of WA , and JAAF for 2020-2021.
This marathon is a WA Elite Label Road Race, and will be conducted in accordance with WA Road Race Label Regulations and WA Advertising Regulations.
As for the IPC registration, IPC Athletics Rules and Regulations and this race regulations will be applied.
Racing Method
- Athletes who fail to pass a Check Point before the set time below will be disqualified and unable to continue the race thereon.
Please follow the instructions of the officials to stop the race and get on the sweep bus.

Selecting Method

- When the capacity is reached, the participants will be selected in order of the submitted official record. Only when the number of the athletes with the official record falls under the capacity, athletes will be selected in order of the half-marathon official record.

Selected athletes must make a deposit, then send the copy of the record certificate, certificate of residence, driver’s license or any official document with your address to the Secretariat by October 29, 2021 <Postmarked on that date is valid>.
- Certificate of residence must be the one issued within three months prior to the application date.

- Procedure:
- Fill in the form from the Secretariat, and make a deposit of the entry fee at a post office. Then, please send the Secretariat the record certificate satisfying the qualification to enter.
- The designated transfer form cannot be passed onto anyone else.
Submission of the Record Certificate and the Address Confirmation
- Submit the record certificate (the record of the race filled in on the application), with Certificate of Residence, Driver’s License, or document with address published by a public institutions to the Secretariat by the deadline. The record must be the gross time and the one of the accredited race by JAAF from November 1, 2017.
Copied document is valid.
- Athletes using the official record of Hofu Yomiuri Marathon (48th ~ 51st) do not have to submit the record certificate.
- After the Secretariat receives the document and confirm it, the entry is considered completed. The athletes who finished the entry will be posted on the official website.
- Submission by e-mail or fax is invalid.
- If the necessary document is not submitted by the deadline, the entry will be cancelled. In that case, there will be no refund.
Award

The top eighth athletes in each division will be awarded.
- The top male and female athletes will be presented with a winning trophy, and the male best rookie with Hamamura Cup / Sadanaga Cup.
- The excellent runner will be dispatched to the international race, etc.
- The fastest male and female athletes with address in Yamaguchi will be awarded. (The First Prize of Yamaguchi Prefecture)
- The top three male athletes in their forties, fifties, and over sixties will be awarded.
- The best runner from overseas will be awarded with International Goodwill Kotoku Cup.
- The invited athlete with the outstanding record will be awarded The Fighting Spirit Award.

- The top three female athletes registered in IPC will be awarded from Japan Blind Women Marathon.

At the ceremony, the winner of the male, the female, male and female registered in IPC will be presented with the award.

- The race details and the health check sheet will be sent to you no later than two weeks before the race. You must present them to enter the racing venue. Please do not fail to bring them on the day of the race.
- At the reception, please present the race details and the health check sheet at the reception. Then you will receive the athlete bib and the timing chip.
- No free shuttle buses between JR Hofu Station and Salt Arena Hofu.
Special Drink
Elite male, Elite female, and athletes registered in IPC can have their personal Drink placed at the water stations. Athletes who wish to have them must state so on the application. Whether it is approved or not, the place and time for accepting them will be notified later. The bottle must be shorter than 30 cm with the mark, and smaller than 8 cm in diameter.
Personal information
The organizers recognize the importance of personal information, and strictly observe the law and regulations to protect it. They handle the personal information on the basis of guidelines. The information will be used for the purpose of improving the service to the athletes, confirmation of the athletes, mailing and posting of the race details and related information, making the completion certificate, and announcing the record. In addition, the organizer, Yomiuri Shimbun or KRY Yamaguchi Broadcasting Co. Ltd. may contact you for the news coverage or broadcasting programs.
Doping Control
- This race is conducted under WA Anti-Doping Rules and Regulations or Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) Code. At the doping test before or after the race, urine and/or blood sample will be taken. Athletes shall follow the instructions of the officials.
- TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption)
Athletes who must use the prohibited substance or method specified on The Prohibited List for treatment must apply and be approved for a TUE prior to the race. Please refer to https://www.jaaf.or.jp/about/resist/medical/,the website of JAAF Medical Committee, or http://www.playtruejapan.org/, the website of JADA for details. - Athletes subject to the doping test at the race must present the identification with a photo, such as the student ID, employee ID, driver’s license, or a clear copy of the passport. Please bring one to the race.
- The athletes who participate this race shall be deemed to be subject to the doping control procedures, and to follow the regulations of JADA、to on the point of the entry of the race.
- Athletes, who refuse or escape from the doping test for this race (urine and/or blood sample), do not follow the instructions of the doping inspectors, or do not complete the test due to the personal reasons, may be considered to violate the anti-doping regulations. If an athlete is judged to violate the anti-doping regulations, please note that JADA will impose sanctions.
- Please be aware that the athlete subject to the blood testing must take a rest for two hours after the race before being able to take the sample.
- As for the details of JADA Rules, and doping tests, please check the website of JADA on http://www.playtruejapan.org.
Health check
As there is no health examinations, participants should go through adequate training in advance and be responsible for their health condition. People with underlying disease tend to have higher risk of having more serious symptoms when infected with COVID-19. Such people should have medical check and get approval of a doctor before applying for the race.
Others
- The race will be broadcasted by KRY (Yamaguchi Broadcasting Co., Ltd.) on TV and radio. It can be listened on smartphone and PC on radiko.jp (fees required outside of Yamaguchi).
- It is prohibited to wear outfit with or show the name or design of a company or a product for advertising purposes. Banners and placards with claims or advertisements are also prohibited.
- Official record certificate will be published to the athletes registered in JAAF.
- If you wish to have the record certificate (the fee: 600 yen including the postage), please apply for it with the fee at the reception.
- Athletes must bring the health insurance card (the copy is ok) in case of the health examination due to injury, etc.
- Costumes or outfit considered inappropriate are prohibited.
- Please equip the timing chip on the specified place. If it is equipped somewhere else, it may not operate correctly. It also measures the net time as a reference.
- The place to keep your valuables will be set up. If you wish to use the service, please use the designated bag you receive at the reception. You need to show your athlete bib when you deposit them and have them returned.
- Please be aware that IC cards cannot be used at JR Hofu Station.
- This marathon race will observe and be conducted in accordance with the rules of Japan.

Rules
(Apply for the race after agreeing with the rules below)
- Organizers provide with first aid but do NOT bear any responsibility for accidents, sickness, loss or theft.
- No changes or cancellation after the entry.
- Any false statement of age, gender, or fraud (someone else runs for the athlete who applied) cannot be admitted. The entry will be cancelled, and the future application may be denied. The organizers hold no compensation in that case.
- Applying for the race in a manner that does not follow the procedures such as using the application form for the previous races etc., or failing to submit the record certificate, etc., the application becomes invalid or cancelled. After applying, please confirm on the official website that the entry is completed.
- In the case of 1・2・3 above, and payment in excess or duplicate cannot be returned.
- Cancellation of the race due to the earthquake, storm, flood, snow, incident, accident, disease, the organizers judge whether or not, and the amount of the entry fee to be returned.
- Image, pictures, articles and record (name, age, gender, portrait, etc.)may be broadcasted, posted or used on newspapers, TV, radios, DVDs, programs, posters, etc. The license to post or use shall belong to the organizers.
【Important】Preventive measures and actions against COVID-19
- This race follows the “Guidance on resuming road racing” set by JAAF, and take the following preventive measures against COVID-19.
- Check the body temperature from a week prior to the race, fill in the health check sheet, do NOT fail to bring it on the day of the race. Without submitting it, or judged by the organizers that you have not managed it appropriately, your participation will be cancelled.
- Your body temperature will be checked on the day of the race. If it is higher than 37.5℃, your participation will be cancelled.
- There will be no refund in the case of 1. and 2.
- Only athletes and staff are allowed to enter the racing venue and the area nearby, and not their companions such as families.
- Wear a mask to the venue on the day of the race.
- Keep the distance with other athletes and staff on the day of the race.(2 meters, at least 1 meter)
- Wash and disinfect hands frequently.
- Check the body temperature for two weeks after the race, and fill in the health check sheet.
- If the athlete is found to be infected, to be in a close contact, or to be suspected to be infected after the race, he or she must immediately contact the organizers and follow their instructions.
- Follow the other preventive measures for COVID-19 set by the race organizers.
- Providing the personal information to the third party
- Personal information will be used for the race management and the preventive measures for COVID-19. If judged necessary by the organizers, the information may be provided to the third party including the health center or the medical facility.
- Cancellation of the race
- If the race is to be cancelled due to the spread of the COVID-19, all the expenses will be settled, and the organizers judge whether or not the entry fee will be made and the amount. The right to participate in the race should not be transferred to the next race, but lapse.
